Noro Zig Zig Scarf

I bought a lovely skein of Noro Silk Garden Sock yarn at Mew Mews a few weeks ago to make another zig zag scarf, this time a little more grown-up looking. I even figured out how to make it totally reversible, and using a continuous strand instead of breaking off and joining on every 2 blocks. I really dislike weaving in ends, especially if there's not a wrong side to hide them on.

I really like the color changes and the way it feels so far, but I decided to rip it out and try to knit it with built-in I-cord edging. I think that would be a fabulous edge treatment, and if I knit it as I go I won't have to worry about having enough yarn left to do applied I-cord at the end. I can always do that if the built-in I-cord gives me a headache. I think I'll be ok, though, if I sketch it out ahead of time and take really good notes.

Mohair Baby Blanket

This is my new project for community knitting at Mew Mews Yarn Shop. There were 6 skeins of Phentex Mohair in the donation bin that wanted to be a baby blanket. I heard them loud and clear, you'll just have to trust me on that. ;)

I dug out Knitting Lace by Susanna Lewis and chose pattern 4 for the main part of the blanket. This one will take me a while, but I like knitting this lace pattern so that won't be a problem. It has a nice rhythm to it.

If I have enough of this yarn left, I'll do the lace border in mohair, but I may have to choose something else. We'll see how it all turns out.

The Holes and Knots show opened today at TACtile Textile Arts Center. It's all lace! I was in heaven. Any kind of lace you can think of was there, and maybe a few you had not yet considered. I have some knitted lace in the show. I think there was only 1 other knitter. Anyway, if you're in the area between now and March 20th it's worth a peek.

Community Knitting Score!

I went to Community Knitting yesterday morning at Mew Mew's Yarn Shop for the first time. In the bin of donated yarn was a gorgeous skein of hand spun yarn, hand dyed with Kool-Aid. Sue, the shop owner, spun and dyed it herself. I know I don't get to keep it, but I do get to play with it for a while. ;) I love the colors! Just the thing to cheer someone up on the dead of winter.

I cast on 31 stitches on size 10.5 needles for a domino scarf. I'll just keep making squares until I run out of yarn.
